Only a month after two similar incidents in late February and early March, a Metro bus operator again took action to keep children on Cincinnati streets from harm.CINCINNATI – Only a month after two similar incidents in late February and early March, a Metro bus operator again took action to keep children on Cincinnati streets from harm. Saturday, March 30, 2013, about 7:15 a.m.: Operator Kenneth Rhodes was driving outbound on Rt. 33 when he saw two young children in diapers alone on Glenway Avenue in Price Hill. He brought the two- and four-year-old children onto his bus and called for assistance; Cincinnati Police District 3 took the little ones to a safe location. Rhodes, a Metro bus operator since 2005, lives in Colerain Township. “Once again, we are so glad that a Metro bus operator was vigilant and stepped in to help,” said Metro’s CEO Terry Garcia Crews. “Operator Rhodes helped prevent these children from possibly being injured. We are proud to have another Metro hero who helped keep children safe.” Rhodes will be presented with the CEO’s STAR Award at the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board meeting on Tuesday, April 16, 9 a.m., at the SORTA Board meeting, 602 Main St., downtown, 12th floor. The STAR Award for “Service That Attracts Recognition” is a selective award is presented by, and at the sole discretion of, Metro’s CEO. The award acknowledges and rewards employees who demonstrate exemplary service to Metro and the community. Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati. # # #
