CAIN: Getting Ready for Hunger Walk 2019

Churches Active in Northside (CAIN) is a partner agency to the Freestore Foodbank and a participant in the Hunger Walk for the last 15 years. Last year they raised over $25,000 for their organization from the event. As they prepare to enter the race again, the Freestore Foodbank is excited to work with them.

Grace Sferra’s Loyal Commitment to Fighting Hunger

FUEL NKU – Fighting Campus Hunger

When Jessica Taylor opened FUEL NKU, a food pantry on the campus of Northern Kentucky University, she knew she would eventually need more space. In the fall of 2018 she met with a team of experts from Kroger.

Nutrition Starts in Elementary School

Home to a diverse population of students, Arnett Elementary in Erlanger, KY opened a school pantry in September last year. They have also been hosting Pop Up Pantries at the school – offering fresh, nutritious produce to families and introducing them to the idea of healthy eating.

A Second Chance

Cortheas Gatewood graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Computer Engineering. A series of unfortunate events sent him to prison for a short while. When he was released, he found that he was unemployable because of his past history. LIFT the TriState served as a transformative experience for this young man, helping him find a job and lead an independent life once again.

A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Sandra and her three young children fell victim to lead poisoning from the wall paint in their apartment. Horrifying as it may sound, it was easier for their landlord to evict the family than to renovate the apartment. Homeless and desperate Sandra came to the Freestore Foodbank looking for assistance. She received much more than she’d ever hoped for!
