Cincinnati Metro Honors 100-Year-Old Bus Rider

Metro’s CEO Terry Garcia Crews presents a year of free rides to 100-year-old Metro customer on April 15.CINCINNATI — Metro employee Sue Limke was filing paperwork for riders in the Fare Deal program when an upcoming birthday caught her eye. The day itself wasn’t significant, but the year revealed this rider would be 100 years old on April 11, 2013. To celebrate this impressive milestone, Metro employees invited St. Bernard resident Anna Tolliver to its offices for a special event. Metro CEO Terry Garcia Crews will present her with a year of free passes on Monday, April 15 at 11 a.m. Tolliver still rides Metro about three times a week for shopping and doctor appointments. She commuted downtown on Metro daily for 35 years before she retired from her job at the Town Club of Cincinnati in the Carew Tower. Her public transportation history also includes riding streetcars around Cincinnati in the 1920s. The year of free rides is a special award given to Metro riders as part of Metro’s 40th Anniversary Story Contest. Additional prize winners will be named this summer. The Fare Deal program, which offers reduced fare for qualified older adults and people with disabilities are certified for the program, has about 8,700 registered customers. Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati. # # #
