CINCINNATI – Colin Groth, Metro’s Government Relations Director, received the Next Generation Leader Award for Government and Public Affairs on Aug. 10 from LEGACY, a leadership group for young professionals in Greater Cincinnati.CINCINNATI – Colin Groth, Metro’s Government Relations Director, received the Next Generation Leader Award for Government and Public Affairs on Aug. 10 from LEGACY, a leadership group for young professionals in Greater Cincinnati. LEGACY, which works in partnership with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, created the Next Generation Leader Award to recognize the Greater Cincinnati young professionals, ages 21 to 40, for significant accomplishments in their chosen professional field, as well as their commitment and contribution to the community. As Government Relations Director, Groth oversees Metro’s government affairs programs and serves as liaison to elected officials and government bodies. He oversees Metro’s lobbying activities and develops relationships with chambers of commerce, civic groups, philanthropic associations, and young professional organizations. He joined Metro in 2005. Groth serves on the OKI Regional Council of Governments’ Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee and with Agenda 360. He is vice chair of the Emanuel Community Center Board of Trustees. Previously, he was Transportation Chair for the Mayor’s Young Professional Kitchen Cabinet, part of the United Way Young Leader’s Society’s Lead Committee, and a member of Cincinnati Streetcar Working Group and GO Cincinnati’s Transportation Committee. He was named in Mass Transit Magazine’s Forty Under 40 in 2010, and received the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Forty Under 40 Award in 2009. He also participated in the Cincinnati USA Chamber’s C-Change YP leadership development program. Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year.
