CINCINNATI – Through an innovative program nearly 1,000 Metro bus rides are provided to low-income riders each day. Metro’s charitable foundation, Everybody Rides Metro (ERM), and its partner organizations make these bus rides possible. ERM works with nearly 90 Cincinnati partner organizations, including the FreestoreFoodbank, St. Vincent de Paul, Talbert House and the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati. These organizations distribute the tokens directly to the individuals they serve. ERM will celebrate its partners at a luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at De Paul Cristo Rey High School, 1133 Clifton Hills Ave. In the last three years, ERM and its partner organizations have provided over 1,300,000 Metro bus tokens to low income individuals. ERM is the first and only charity in the nation to subsidize public transportation for low-income riders. In 2008, ERM received the American Public Transportation Association’s Innovation Award for its efforts.
