Join representatives from the Federal Transit Administration, Ohio Department of Transportation, and local leaders as Metro breaks ground on its newest transit center at Glenway Crossing in Western Hills.WHAT: Groundbreaking for Metro’s new Glenway Crossing Transit Center and Park & Ride WHEN: Monday, July 18, 10:30 – 11 a.m. WHERE: Glenway Crossing Shopping Center (intersection of Glencrossing Way and Anderson Ferry Road, across from HH Gregg) Join representatives from the Federal Transit Administration, Ohio Department of Transportation, and local leaders as Metro breaks ground on its newest transit center at Glenway Crossing in Western Hills. The Glenway Crossing Transit Center and Park & Ride will serve as the major connection and transfer point for several westside routes and will provide customer amenities. After the July 18 groundbreaking event, construction will begin for the project, which will be completed and operating in the fall of 2011. The Glenway Crossing Transit Center and Park & Ride will include four bus boarding areas, passenger shelters, approximately 70 park and ride spaces, and other improvements such as new sidewalks, landscaping and signage. Funding for the Glenway Crossing Transit Center comes from several federal funding sources, including American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Surface Transportation Project (STP), and Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality funds made available through the Ohio Department of Transportation and OKI Regional Council of Governments. Local funds are being used to match federal funds on this construction project. Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year. Learn more about Metro at www.go-metro.com.
