Metro and Parks Partners Unveil New Sign and “Guide to Green Fun”

A BIG bus stop sign like the one that will be used to mark bus stops near dozens of park facilities across Cincinnati and Hamilton County will be unveiled on Wednesday, July 10, 10 – 10:15 a.m., at the Music Hall Plaza in Washington Park.PHOTO OPPORTUNITY FOR MEDIA CINCINNATI – Kids, naturalists, animals, mascots, and more will help unveil a BIG bus stop sign like the one that will be used to mark bus stops near dozens of park facilities across Cincinnati and Hamilton County on Wednesday, July 10, from 10 – 10:15 a.m., at the Music Hall Plaza in Washington Park. Metro CEO Terry Garcia Crews, Cincinnati Parks Director Willie F. Carden Jr., Great Parks of Hamilton County Executive Director Jack Sutton, CRC Recreation Director Christopher Bigham, and Green Umbrella Executive Director Brewster Rhoads will also take part in the unveiling. The special parks sign represents one of the first collaborative initiatives between the Cincinnati Parks, Great Parks of Hamilton County and Cincinnati Recreation Commission. By working with Metro and Green Umbrella, the project urges residents to visit community parks and facilities via environmentally-friendly transit. Metro will also debut a new brochure called “Metro Guide to Green Fun” to guide bus riders who want to visit parks and recreation centers in the area. The brochure, highlighting 37 locations with healthy and green activities, can be found on each of the partner’s websites and at designated parks and facilities. To encourage bus ridership, Metro provided each of the three partners with 25 free ride tickets to give out to visitors or program participants. Metro is a tax-supported public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million per rides in Greater Cincinnati. # # #
