Metro’s New Glenway Crossing Transit Center Opens Dec. 4

Metro will celebrate the new Glenway Crossing Transit Center and Park & Ride with a public grand opening event on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. and with free rides from Glenway Crossing on Monday, Dec. 5, from 4 – 9 a.m. Service begins at the new transit center on Sunday, Dec. 4. The new Glenway Crossing Transit Center serves as the connection and transfer point for four major westside routes: Rt. 38X Glenway Crossing-Uptown Express (commuter service to Uptown) Rt. 39 Western Hills-Uptown (all-day service to Clifton and Mt. Auburn) Rt. 64 Westwood–Ferguson (all-day service to Westwood to downtown) Rt. 77X Delhi Express (commuter service to downtown) Located at the intersection of Glencrossing Way and Anderson Ferry Road, the new transit center includes four bus boarding areas, three passenger shelters, 70 park and ride spaces, and other improvements such as new sidewalks, landscaping and signage. “The new Glenway Crossing Transit Center will make riding Metro so much easier for our westside customers,” said Terry Garcia Crews, CEO of Metro. “Commuters will be able to park free and go directly to the University of Cincinnati and uptown employers, as well as downtown. Westside routes will connect at the transit center for safe and easy transfers. This is just one of several improvements Metro is making to enhance the transit experience and encourage more people to ride.” To celebrate the transit center’s opening, Metro is planning several public events: Saturday, Dec. 3, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. – Grand opening event with customer appreciation incentives and prizes. Help Metro “stuff the bus” with non-perishable food items for the Freestore Foodbank. Monday, Dec. 5, 4 – 9 a.m.: Monday morning free rides for customers who board at the Glenway Crossing transit center (on Monday, Dec. 5 only). Funding for the Glenway Crossing Transit Center comes from several federal funding sources, including American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Surface Transportation Project (STP) and Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality funds made available through the Ohio Department of Transportation and OKI Regional Council of Governments.
