SORTA Board Chair Jason Dunn Receives Top Public Transportation Recognition

Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board Chair Jason Dunn was named to Mass Transit Magazine’s 2014 “Top 40 Under Forty” list, honoring professionals who are making significant contributions to the public transit industry. CINCINNATI – Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board Chair Jason Dunn was named to Mass Transit Magazine’s 2014 “Top 40 Under Forty” list, honoring professionals who are making significant contributions to the public transit industry. He is featured in the September/October issue and on Mass Transit’s website. Dunn was recognized for his volunteer engagement and accomplishments as SORTA Board Chair, including creating the State of Metro annual meeting, opening the Uptown Transit District, and fostering a community dialogue about public transit’s future in Greater Cincinnati. Dunn serves as Director of Multicultural Affairs and Community Development for the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau. He manages the CVB’s comprehensive multicultural strategy, working to more deeply engage the local community, region-wide partners, and the CVB sales team to provide support in analyzing and pursuing new business opportunities. He has received numerous awards, including being named a “40 Under 40” young industry leader by Connect and Rejuvenate magazines and Cincinnati Business Courier’s 2013 “Forty Under 40.” Mass Transit Magazine honorees were nominated by their peers and judged on criteria that included job commitment, industry involvement and contribution, achievement in his or her position and innovation in his or her field. “Jason understands the role that public transportation plays in the economic vitality of the region,” said Darryl Haley, Metro Interim CEO. “This prestigious national award recognizes Jason’s leadership and commitment to advancing transit.” The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) is governed by a 13-member volunteer citizens’ board of trustees. Seven trustees are appointed by the City of Cincinnati and six are appointed by Hamilton County. Hamilton County appoints three of its own trustees and one each representing Butler, Clermont and Warren counties. Metro is a tax-supported public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority. Metro provides about 17 million rides per year in the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, with limited service to Butler, Clermont and Warren counties. # # #
