Department Of Disability Services Hosts Zoom Support Meeting Every 4th Tuesday

People with disabilities often face unique challenges in navigating the healthcare system, including communication barriers, lack of accessibility, and discrimination. Therefore, it is crucial for individuals with disabilities to receive support for advocacy in their healthcare to ensure they receive the appropriate care and accommodations they need. Advocacy can help individuals with disabilities communicate their needs effectively, advocate for their rights, and ensure they are treated with respect and dignity in healthcare settings.

The Hamilton County Department of Disability Services hosts the “Being a Healthy Adult” Zoom support meeting on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 3 to 4 PM for adults 18+. The meeting focuses on How to Advocate for Your Healthcare, and encourages participants to share experiences and feelings. The Zoom discussion focuses on day-to-day mental & physical health, managing one’s own healthcare, staying healthy, and obtaining advocacy at medical appointments. Those interested in attending can email Advocacy Supervisor Amber Cowart, call her at (513) 559-6934, or email Quality Assurance Nurse Jamie Miller to request the Zoom link and for more information.
