Share the Light Fund Available to Manage Heating Bills this Winter starting in January
|
Administered by The Salvation Army, the Share the Light fund provides one-time assistance, up to $400, to eligible customers to help avoid disconnection or maintain service. The program opens January 18th. It is helpful to get started collecting the required documents ahead of the program opening, as it is a popular program and the program funding is limited.
To qualify, an individual must: 1) be a resident of Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland or Warren county; 2) have a heating account with Duke Energy; 3) have a past-due balance, unpaid deposit for utility service or unpaid reconnection charge; and 4) Cannot be on the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus program, unless funds for the Share the Light Fund are still available after March 31st, 2025.
Applicants should contact their local Salvation Army office. The Salvation Army has a portal available online to help you find your local office by zip code. Hamilton County applicants may alternatively complete an online application. For assistance, call 513.762.5636. The program is also available for Northern Kentucky residents, to provide up to $300 in assistance. Kentucky residents should contact the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission, at (859) 581-6607.
