Food Pyramid replaced by new graphic
On June 2nd, 2011, the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (an organization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture) announced a new graphic will replace the food pyramid. The hope is that the new graphic, which appears at the right, is easier to understand. Sample menus at 2000 calorie level…Current with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, these menus give an example of how all of the recommendations for food group and nutrient intake can be integrated into a weekly menu. [PDF]

The Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, an organization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was established in 1994 to improve the nutrition and well-being of Americans. Toward this goal, the Center focuses its efforts on two primary objectives:
- Advance and promote dietary guidance for all Americans, and
- Conduct applied research and analyses in nutrition and consumer economics.
