Home Modification Funding for Clinton County Seniors

The Council on Aging is administering a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to make home repairs and modifications for older adults in Clinton County who qualify.
What repairs and modifications are included in the Program?
Individuals may apply to receive assistance with home repairs or safety modifications that will help them continue to live independently at home. Repairs and safety modifications in this program are meant to be low-cost and high-impact. Examples of these include: Safety upgrades including installation of grab bars, railings and lever-handle doorknobs and faucets; or Installation of adaptive equipment such as a temporary ramp, tub/shower transfer bench, handheld shower head, raised toilet seat, risers for chairs and sofas and non-slip strips for tub/shower or stairs.

Who is eligible?
This Clinton County program is open to Clinton County residents age 62 and over who own and reside in their own home, and whose annual household income (counting all household members) is $44,000 or less for a single-person household; $50,250 or less for a two-person household; $56,550 or less for a three-person household; $62,800 or less for a four-person household.
How to apply
Individuals may apply to participate in this program by completing the online application, or by calling the Council on Aging at (937) 584-7200 and selecting Option 2 from the menu to speak to a representative.
Once COA has verified that you meet all eligibility requirements to participate in the program, they will schedule a visit to your home by a licensed Occupational Therapist, who will evaluate your functional abilities and your home environment. This therapist will then recommend the best modification(s) and/or equipment to optimize the home environment and increase independence.
