In-Person Tutors for Students and Adult Learners with Developmental Disabilities
|
Funding is available to obtain in-person tutors for school students and adult learners. There are grant opportunities separately available for students and adult learners through Learning Aid Ohio, and Adult Literacy Ohio, respectively. Once approved, one can browse available tutors in your area with the expertise needed, and schedule interviews with those who seem like a good fit. After a successful match, one can use the grant to schedule tutoring sessions with the preferred tutor.
To qualify for a Learning Aid Ohio grant, students must meet specific requirements, including:
1) Be learning on an Individualized Education Program (IEP);
2) Be an Ohio resident; and
3) Be a member of a family with a household income less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Qualifying students can apply through the Learning Aid Ohio online application portal.
To qualify for the Adult Literacy Ohio program, adult learners must meet the following qualifications:
1) Have a current Individual Service Plan in Ohio or supply documentation to verify qualifying developmental disability and Ohio residency;
2) Provide feedback to Adult Literacy Ohio, as requested; and
3) Be committed to meeting with their chosen tutor consistently.
Adult learners can apply through the Adult Literacy Ohio online application portal.
