Use the Street Reach Mobile App to help homeless individuals escape the cold.

Colder temperatures can be deadly for those with no place to stay. There is a mobile app that allows those who witness individuals living on the street in the cold get help. The nonprofit organization “Strategies to End Homelessness” has sponsored the Street Reach mobile app, available for both iOS and android phones. This app enables users to report individuals experiencing homelessness who are at risk. By downloading it, users can help those at risk connect with outreach workers for assistance and support.

Street outreach workers engage with people experiencing homelessness every day, help them on their journey off the street, into emergency shelter, and back to stable housing. They can’t be everywhere at once, though, so you can help by sending reports about where you see people in need of support. The app sends your report directly to the centralized intake system for families and individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of becoming homeless. Once your report is processed, a street outreach worker is sent to the location you reported as soon as possible to help.

You can find more housing support resources by selecting the “Housing” category tab on our Social Service “Utilization Library” page.
